The “NewBean” is growing…

August 14, 2008

In case you’re wondering the NewBean is the baby that’s due in December.  I’ve called the babies (by that I mean all the kids, there is only ONE bean in there) beans for a whi8le now, especially since whenever I’ve had the first confirmation ultrasound of my pregnancies I’ve always thought that the baby looks like a bean or a gummy bear (seriously).

So anyway, this one has been affectionately called the NewBean during this pregnancy.  I finally saw my midwife this week after a Loooooooooong stretch of no appointment (oh, like 10 weeks!).  Needless to say they were very happy to see me check-in at the office.  All looks good.  I am feeling quite a bit of movement during parts of the day and very thankfully still am not suffering from heartburn (anyone else think that this may be our first bald baby?), the heartbeat sounds very good and I’m measuring right on target for my "due" date.  The best part, I’ve only gained 7 pounds this pregnancy so far!  Woohoo!

We had an ultrasound today.  We don’t believe in any of the blood screening that they offer, since much of the tests often give false results, but I do elect to have one ultrasound so that we are aware of anything that would require a hospital transfer at birth or before.  I am very happy to report that the NewBean looks great.  Every part looks perfect, we brought the kids and they looked in amazement as the tech showed them the heart and the brain and even the kidneys!

Of course they wanted to know if it was a boy or a girl, but Vince and I have decided to keep it a surprise from ALL of us until this little one makes it’s appearance sometime around December 10th!  We all have our guesses though, what’s yours?
