We’re gonna do it…
We’re about to go crunchy! Well, we’re about to really cross that fine line we’ve been treading.
- Vince and I decided that co-sleeping with the babies worked for our family and each child has spent a good deal of their first year sleeping with us. (Like I said it worked for us)
- I swear by baby-wearing, whether its a sling or a Mei Tai or some other alternative, you WON’T find my toting around an infant seat.
- I’ve nursed each of our littles for over a year and allowed the to self-wean (each around 14-16 months).
- We ventured into home-birth with the last one and have decided we would never go the "traditional" route again unless medically necessary.
Even with all this we never considered ourselves very crunchy. Heck, we shop at Walmart, I love me some good junk-food, I allow my family to eat fast food (probably on a somewhat weekly basis) and I don’t always buy organic products. No one could really consider us "granolas", right? Well, we’re about to cross the line. We are SERIOUSLY considering cloth diapering!
Well, we entertained the idea when we were expecting Cesca since I knew I’d be home full time but we never made the leap. But now… Well, we’ve started calculating how many thousands of dollars we’ve been "throwing away" over the last four and a half years and it’s an ugly number. So no, we’re really not trying to save the earth, per say. Just trying to save us some money, after all, someone has to put these kids through college! Looks like we’re really going to try it. I’ve chatted online with another scrapbooker who uses cloth exclusively and she’s giving me some great tip for experimenting in cloth. So Vince and I spent some time over the weekend looking up different sites that carry what we’re looking for. We have a "wishlist" for how we’ll start up (I’ll send you the links if your interested for baby gifts *hint*hint*). We found some good sites and we’ll probably take the plunge soon and get started with Cesca so we’ll know before this little one arrives how it’s working for us. Okay, so some of you are probably not surprised, only surprised that we took this long to get here.
So there you have it. Say hello to my some-what-crunchy family!
